Call of Duty

The game industry has a lot of influence on our society, even the most violent ones. Call of Duty is one of the most violent, yet is one of the most popular. Why is that? Our society is so embedded into violence and warfare that we don't care if an eight year old child plays Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc. In Call of Duty, the players can kill as they please. In the multiplayer setting you basically fight and kill other players, all the while having fun?!

We always hear gamers complain about 10 year old kids raging because you were unfair/hacking. My question is why is there a 10 year old playing these games in the first place? Isn't this game rated M for mature? Meaning 18 years old and higher?... Oh wait I forgot people don't look at that. Young kids are playing this gory, violent game and being happy when they see the picture of above. Common parents you're supposed to be PARENTS not BUDDY'S!! I've personally heard kids who were pissed at someone and instead of starting a fight (which is good they didn't) he said: "I'll kick you're **** on CoD man" which is actually killing... virtual killing, but it's the same idea. Parents should be aware of this and actually do something about it instead of standing beside their kids and say: "Kill that one there!".

There has also recently appeared a video for CoD: MW3 where they paid Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill  to play the vet and the n00b.  First paying well known actors to play in this video is a good marketing strategy, getting two actors that people love so that the population will say: "Hey they're playing it, why don't I try it?". At the end it says: "There's a soldier in all of us" trying to get people who want to "experience" the glory of war. There is no glory in war, ask any veteran who served on the front lines. Then, once playing this, people who enrol in the army end up being at war and they treat it like a game, it has happened. The only problem is if you die in real life... you don't respawn.

  1. I don't really agree with you when you say "Common parents you're supposed to be PARENTS not BUDDY'S!!" only because it is just a game, letting them play the game doesn't make them their buddy. I think it's fine if they let them as long as they be a parent and make sure their kid knows that it is just a game and the actions can not be repeated in real life. I do agree with you on how they get famous actors to play the roles in this video to make publicity but that's how you make money. If you made this game i'm sure you would want to make the most money possible because I know I would want to, we would probably make a similar video to if that's what it took to get money.
